Mission Statement: The South Bay Emergency Communications Service Inc. (SBECS) trains communication volunteers to operate emergency voice and data communications during emergencies within the fourteen cities of Area G, located in Southwest Los Angeles County. Structure: SBECS operates on a system of six frequencies, located on five mountain tops circling the Los Angeles Basin, that is interlinked, multi-channel, multi-band on 2 Meter, 440 MHz, Echolink and IRLP. SBECS ID cardholders are vetted by the FBI InfraGard and are cleared to handle law enforcement intelligence. Scope: SBECS operates within the Emergency Support Function Communications Annex (ESF) #2 supporting Federal actions to assist industry in restoring the public communications infrastructure and to assist State, tribal, and local governments with emergency communications and restoration of public safety communications systems and first responder networks.
